8 Small-time Charities Doing Big-time Things!

During this time of giving, we wanted to take a look at a few small charities that are making a big difference in the world. When allocating your holiday donations and volunteer time, think about helping the little guys this year!

  1) LGBT Asylum Task Force   Location: Worcester, MA Mission Statement: The Lesbian, Gay, Bi-sexual and Transgender (LGBT) Asylum Support Task Force is a community-based organization of volunteers dedicated to supporting and empowering LGBT individuals who are seeking asylum or refuge in the United States. How to Help: Donate/Volunteer   2) Restore Location: New York City, NY Mission: Restore NYC’s mission is to end sex trafficking in New York and restore the well-being and independence of foreign-national survivors. Working to this end, we: • Deliver complete care, addressing physical, emotional and spiritual needs. • Provide community and safe, long-term housing. • Empower survivors when they cooperate with law enforcement. • Increase awareness and understanding in the greater community. • Advocate for effective policies and legislation. How to Help: Donate/Volunteer   3) A Tail at a Time   Location: New York City, NY Mission: We Save Homeless Animals and Bring Joy to People How To Help: Donate/Volunteer   4) Angels and Warriors Foundation Mission:Focusing on children with Leukemia & Lymphomas. Our goal is to raise funds for children with Cancer and their families. To aide in their time of need with monetary support in an effort to ease their everyday general concerns and attempt to maintain stability in their everyday lives so they may continue to care for their children. How To Help: Donate   5) Chive Charities   Mission: Chive Charities is a pending 501(c)(3) non-profit organization which inspires theCHIVE’s online community to champion orphaned causes in need of public awareness and financial assistance. How to Help: Donate   6) Handbags of Hope   Location: Michigan Mission: HandBags of Hope support, advocacy, and education - through community collaboration - to end domestic and sexual violence and promote a safe environment for all. Selected programs receive handbags filled with a variety of necessities to hand out to women at no cost. How to Help: Donate   7) Solving Kids Cancer   Mission: Created by two fathers who lost children to pediatric cancer, Solving Kids' CancerTM is committed to significantly improving survivorship of the deadliest childhood cancers. 100% of all donations are used to find, fund, and manage clinical trials and scientific programs to rapidly develop more effective and less toxic treatments. Solving Kids' Cancer is a 501(c)(3) public charity. How to Help: Donate   8) Each One Counts   Location: Pound Ridge, NY Mission: The each one counts foundation raises funds to ease the physical pain and suffering of terminally and chronically ill children through alternative pain relief therapies such as massage, yoga, pet, art, music, temperature and light. Insurance does not cover the cost of these therapies. How to Help: Donate
